Has anyone succeded in getting vaccin against Shingles/la culebrilla (double dosis with at least 8 weeks inbetween) in the Almeria region?

Lack of time before leaving Sweden and I missed the oportunity to get the first shot, offered by any/all private vaccin centers. Costs a lot (2 x 200 Euro) and yet (but under investigación nationwide) not included in the public protection for age 60+. Shingrix is supposed to give you a 90% protection.

I speak spanish with ease and talked to a Vera and Mojacar clinic as well as 2 pharmacies today in Garrucha. Nothing in stock, nor in stock at their respective supplier. How come?

Shingles has during the last months struck a number of people close by (husband, brother in law last week and a ex neighbour yesterday). All 3 got antiviral medication within 1-2 days. Sister in law had her  vaccin after just a call to a private Vaccin center in Gothenburg when her husband was diagnosed.

I had the shingles vaccine earlier this year, at my local health center.  Sadly the doctor prescribed zostavax which isn't as effective and I have had a couple of flare ups since.

I treat the flare ups with aciclovir cream, which is available from the chemist at very little cost.  Not sure why you are mentioning others who have an episode, shingles is neither infectious nor contagious.  You have to have had chicken pox to be susceptible to it.

Thank's for replying. All mentioned, me included, have had 2 or 3 Covid vaccin injections. There there has been some discusiones whether there could be some relation between the viruses and/or the injections and Shingles - apart from us ageing every day with increased risk for getting  Shingles.
