Private Medical Insurance
Hi All, my first post! My wife and I are looking to retire early from the UK in the next couple of years to the Mojacar area, I’ll be 55 and she will be 52, so well below normal retirement age, happy days! We are hopeful that we can buy a property this summer and start planning for the following year or so. We’ve already done some research (accepting that Brexit may result in some changes for our situation) regarding required income from savings/private pension, cost of living etc. so reasonably clued up but have some concerns regarding Private Healthcare when applying for Residencia. We’ve seen posts advising that you sometimes require a year’s healthcare paid up (no monthly payments) which isn’t a concern, it’s more about the type of policy that is suitable. We’ve checked online with a few companies, Sanitas for example are quoting 160€ each per month for a policy that is compliant with NIE/Residencia applications. This seems excessive to me, does anyone have some advice? Cheaper options that will be adequate for Residencia? We are essentially looking to live in Spain indefinitely and will apply for the extensions to reside, we are lead to believe it requires applications for a further 2x two year extensions. If this is correct, do you still need to provide two years worth of income/healthcare when applying for each extension? Hopefully that all makes sense, look forward to receiving some good advice, Thanks.
