Hi everyone

I really need your help finding out what to do:

My husband and I have been in Spain (legally) for six months. My husband has received his residency after 3 months. Mine hasn’t arrived yet as there was a problem with documentation so I have now been waiting for 15 weeks t his time.  Ok I know I have to be extra patient.

My questions is : how on Earth can we get in touch with INSS if they do not let you go there in person (Huercal Overa) and also the telephone number they give us only tell us to go online.

We have been trying online for 3 months! Nearly every day. A few weeks ago we finally got an telephone appointment with INSS for my husband ask about how to register his S1 with Health Care, assistência sanitária, which we are by law entitled to (having the S1 form and ALL the legal requirements and necessary documents)

So, we were excited when finally got the telephone appointment and waited patiently for the call- I say “we” even though it was for my husband because I speak Spanish and would be helping during the call if needed.

Waited and waited and waited!!! No call!! A automatic call one hour later even asked how we “rated” the service!

After this disappointment and frustrating day, we have been trying like crazy to call , go online or asking people what on Earth we need to do now. Every time we consult online , it takes us round in circles with conflicting information and we are getting nothing!!

A gestor would charge 100€ saying they can do (I.e. register my husband in the INSS)

I find this absolutely disgraceful that the “gestor”  can do but we, the citizens cannot get through the system! We are entitled BY LAW to medical cover (retired in U.K., having bought a property here outright, having produced everything to the lawyers for the residency’s document)

It’s not even the money in itself that angers us, It’s the lack of information and clarity to something we are totally entitled to. We have been waiting so patiently for my residency and now there is another worry: how can we be called for Covid vaccine? We are not in the system even though we are legal residents!

Can someone give us any idea of what to do to get INSS to speak to us?

I appreciate any information!!

Book yourself a cita previa at the inss online via the website. You can then register all your details in person. Hope this helps K

We did that! It was a telephone cita prévia! But they never called and there are NO APPOINTMENTS in person!  As I said we tried again and again on their website since January and managed to get a cita prévia on the telephone. But they didn’t call!

I am on their website every single day many times a day. No appointments! I just wanted to be able to speak to a human being from INSS!

As you speak Spanish, go to the office in HO and speak to the security officer and explain your problem. It’s worth a try. I have to say anyone else I know hasn’t had any problems recently. Although as you seem to be so stressed over it I would have thought a €100 would have been money well spent.

I also had a telephone appointment.  I then managed to book a cita previa, so cancelled the telephone appointment and attended in person.  Made no difference as the lady at the inss wasn't having any of it.  Was only trying to make a suggestion for you as you had had problems with the telephone appointment.  Won't bother in future.

We went there. The security didn’t even want to talk. Almost closed the door on my husband face. He said “cita telefônica” and closed the door.

Why would the gestor have means to do that and we can’t? Does that mean the INSS will let the gestor speak to someone personally but not us?  Or does that mean INSS give the gestor appointments but not to the normal people?

I know exactly what some people will say:

“Why don’t this people just pay and get it done “? Just wanted to know how is done. A system that doesn’t allow public but allows representatives who charge people to do docs? I don’t really want to believe that Spain is like that. That’s why I am here asking if anyone has any idea. If someone decides to reply and tell me to pay a gestor to do let’s be honest, that’s not helpful because I know I could have done that if I wanted to.

Just asking if there is any other way. Apparently many people did themselves, that’s what our lawyers told us.

Sorry M, I thought you wanted help, but it seems you just wanted to rant & Lospardoslady & myself got the brunt of it.

Have a nice evening and hope you sort out your problem soon.

I do want help! Anything, any information on how to get through INSS will be greatly appreciated. For your information LosPardosLady has been very helpful as she had problems getting registered too. “Brunt “? What does that mean?
