I obtained my residencia in November. I went the route of money in the bank and paid up front for private healthcare for a year. So what happens now I'm resident, am I automatically able to register for social healthcare, do I need to wait for my 12 months private cover to expire or do I need to continue with private healthcare until myself and my fiancee are married and I can be named on our business (he is currently named and Autonomo). My healthcare would be up in July.

TIA

You’ll need to wait until you are married, then you can get healthcare by dint of your partner being autónomo.  After 12 months residency, you CAN go on to Convenio Especial, which for your age would be 60€ a month, but doesn’t cover prescription fees or pre-existing conditions

Convenio Especial does cover pre existing conditions, which was the main reason i changed from Private medical insurance.

Thank you. I'm going to look into this and see what my best option is, at least until we can finally get married!

Please can you tell me how you applied for your Convenio Especial?

We are having problems with who to submit the application form.  The INSS said take it to the health centre, the health centre (Vera) said go to the INSS.  In the end we sent it direct to the SAS en Sevilla but have heard nothing.

How long did you have to wait before you received your Contract?

I realise there are strange times in which we live but it would be nice to know that it is in the pile waiting to be processed.

Once its at Seville they took around 7 weeks before they sent asking for more information, then another 7 weeks before they sent contracts, then another 7 weeks once we sent them back, took around 6 months from start to finish.

Many thanks for your reply.  I guess it's just a question of waiting then....
