Advice about long term health issue

Depending on age you will either need private medical cover or if you in receipt of a UK state pension you can, after applying, receive health care here paid by the UK government ( that's the case at the moment, who knows what will happen in the future).

Jack is correct & the only transplant patient I have met was getting his meds from UK.

May I suggest you attempt to contact MACS & yes although they deal with Ca they or their staff may have some knowledge.

Also if you were to find Support Groups for Transplant recipients in Spain that might prove really helpful.

Re private health insurance, if required. You will need to find one that covers pre existing conditions. My husband and I took out a cheapish insurance to get us through the residencies application but pre existing conditions are not covered. I pay for any check ups etc regarding my condition. Drugs here are generally cheap but one that I need is expensive so get it sent from the UK via prescription on line and sent via a family member. Not ideal but it has worked for the last year.

Hi All, many thanks for all your advice, in particular Pam, your situation may just work for me.  I currently have a 12 month travel insurance policy, which excludes my pre-existing condition, but they only cover me for 60 days consecutively.  I currently have a three month script for my meds and am reviewed on a three month basis. I am 64 and have been well since the operation 7 years ago.

I really want to try and make this work and not to have to give up on my dream in retirement!

Any other advice (particularly from Renal transplant patients) would be greatly appreciated.     Thank-you
