Hi

We are hoping to purchase a holiday home and was looking to get an idea of the following areas/Urbanisations.

  • Vera Buganvillas
  • Torrelaguna development
  • Fuente Mar
If anyone can share insights (pro/con's) on the above that would be great, to give some context, we are a couple (late 30's) who have 2 children, we would occupy the place during the school holidays, and most likely have members of the family use the property throughout the year. We know Spain reasonably well as we have family (ex-pats) in Murcia & Malaga, I've been studying Spanish for 4 years so can hold a conversation..or I think I can anyway. We'll most likely rent a car when there, but we wanted a place that had supermarkets, bars, restaurants & shops within walking distance.

Any advice would be appreciated

Regards

Keith

hi Keith,  We used Fuentamar as a base when we first came here in 2003 it is not a bad complex, gated and right near two supermarkets and cafes and bars are handy.  there is a bus service from there to Mojacar and into Vera town.  it is walking distances to the beaches in Garrucha.  I would say that it is a very good option for a holiday home for a family.  The only thing i will say is remember the noise factor as the Spanish familiies would sit outside late into the night and talk loudly.  The roof terrace is very hot in the summer and lends itself to extending the property with another room.  They are good value for money to buy but i don't know how much maintenance costs are.  We rented a two bed one bath not sure but there must be 3 bed on site.

Don't know anything about the other two places  but can say if you want a holiday home in the sun you can't go wrong with this area of Spain.  Water park on doorstep, bowling alley, beautiful beaches, wild west place inland and a water action area.  Nature area of wetlands and the Cabo de Gato what's not to like.

Hi Alicia, thank you very much and very helpful, noted on the loud locals. Although my family feel the only way to communicate is by shouting at each other.....we'd probably annoy them more than the other way around ;)

Out of interest how did you find parking? I understand there is no dedicated parking space in Fuentamar, but most of the reviews say there is plenty of parking surrounding the urbanisation?

Yep, most are 2 beds on site, however some have converted the roof terrace to a 3rd room.

Depending on restrictions, we are aiming to come out in Aug for the school holidays so will probably stay on the complex to get a feel.

Thanks again

parking is reasonable but will be busy in the summer of course.  it is just outside the complex and goes right round the outsides.   staying for a holiday will certainly get you a feel for whether it is for your family or not.  I hope you get to come here soon and enjoy it.
