Very helpful member
They will usually film those programmes out of season. Still nice weather but quiet, especially along the coast. As for the villages, a lot of them are quiet, but possibly they will film them during siesta when there is no one to ask them what they are doing.
What amazes us are the people, in the Autumn/Winter of their lives wanting a big villa with land to have olive trees etc etc or moving into a townhouse in a village with no parking at the door and windy stairs to manoeuvre.
Thank you I understand what you mean, but we have our dream planned out, no stairs / good bus route /near shops / separate kitchen I don't like cooking smells in living room/ small garden and outside area, but if we where able to buy that, what would we dream about
In many places in Spain people still observe siesta (2.00pm - 5.00pm) where they head indoors. This could be the answer you need.
I have watched a few repeated programmes recently and at the end it tells you when it was filmed and they are mostly out of season many in November and March.

We actually filmed A Place in the Sun in August 2017. We filmed from 8.30 a.m. all day Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. 1/2 day Wednesday. Just a few hours in the morning on Friday. We had paella on the beach at 9.00 a.m.! It is much better for the sound engineer if there are less people about. We regularly had to stop filming for aircraft noise, dogs barking and motorbikes. However I would like to say they treated us very well, very professional young team. We have our place in the sun, now we are retired. Not the one we put an offer on, as we decided it was too large, too much outside space and remote. We have a ground floor apartment, on the beach and a bus stop right outside, perfect.
We filmed with Sun, Sea and Selling Houses with Sharon and Steve from Spanish Property Choice. We filmed in November, Wednesday to Friday. Had a great time lots of fun but long days. It is not all as it looks, you film most sequences 3 times and often have to repeat what you have said. We had a very specific brief for what we were looking for but sadly this was not passed on to Sharon and Steve correctly. We wanted to be in or near Mojacar maximum 30 minutes from coast, detached 3 bed villa with pool but not too much land (we are both retired). Main consideration was that we did not want too much work and the property had to have amazing views as this is what we were used to. Sadly we were taken to Albox and further in land so not what we wanted at all. However we still made the move in December 2017 and rented for 6 months. When we found our home in La Parata, Mojacar it was too big, needed total renovation but had the most amazing views we fell in love with it instantly. We will have completed all the work by this Christmas including total renovation of a 2 bed apartment, which we now rent out for holidays, and love every minute we live here. Best laid plans don't always end up being what you really want certainly in our case. Good luck hope your dreams work out.
Hi all, thanks for all the info you have sent , about filming A Place in the Sun, things are dropping into place now, . the way its shown , it looks as if it was all done in 1 day , because the buyers wore the same clothes, and they travelled quite a long way sometimes, I would love to watch it being made , how the research was done , and how come when an offer is put in, it is accepted or refused within seconds, any more info would be very welcome ( or am I being a pest ) Thank you
I too enjoy Place in the Sun but am amazed how couples can go to a place they have never been before, view 5 houses and make an offer. We've been back to Turre area for the last 3 years and only just decided its where we like. Is it all for the cameras? I'd like to see a new programme ' Return to a Place in the Sun' to see how it all worked out, or am I just being cynical?
I did write to the producers about going back to see those that bought and see how they are, but they wrote back saying, they had tried it. But it was not successful
