Tiger Mosquitos in the area so be wary!
Tiger mosquitos seen in El Pinar.
Hi everyone, I have squashed the very first tiger mosquito that I have ever seen while I was in the garden yesterday morning. I noticed something flying around and trying to land on my lower leg during full sunlight at about 11 am. They are very dark but with lots of white spots and so they are well camouflaged. They can cause some really nasty bite reactions and can also spread three very dangerous diseases. They live and breed close to human populations and so check any persisting water accumulations like the pools in unfinshed or empty properties. The first one was discovered in Spain in 2004.
They are active between May and October with peak activity normally in September.
Keep safe and well
Regards
Andy
