Option 2 would be a gas heater.  Same questions.

We have had neater heaters in our apartment for the past 8 years and find them really good. They are more expensive to purchase than most electric heaters but are efficient and !much cheaper to run than conventional electric heaters. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. As for gas heaters it's a no from me. I personally didn't like the smell they give off, have to have ventilation in the room, and in our room caused a lot of condensation. After two winters we gave up and gave it to our friend who lived in a villa with a very big lounge, she found it ok, so I suppose it could have been because our lounge s small that we had the problems.

Sounds good, would 1 be sufficient  for a average size living room.

Hi Liz,

The local Neater Heater stockist is Lifestyle Enclosures if you give them the size of the room(s) they will tell you what size heater you need to heat the room(s). They can also install them for you.

They are a British run business and all English speaking

They are located on the El Real industrial estate at Antas

Calle El Garcel 11 Poligono Industrial El Real, 04628 Antas, Almería

950 45 90 60

Hope this helps

Hi again Liz, we have a large one 118 cm long and a medium one 78 cm long in our living space which has open plan kitchen too and find this sufficient. You can have them free standing on feet or on brackets on the wall like standard radiators. I think when CC says installation this is what he means wall mounted as you just plug them in and they are ready to go. Must admit we have been very happy with ours. As I said originally we have had them 8 years so it's very likely they're even better now and possibly more sizes available too. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Not sure if its a bit late to add my 2 cents worth but I would avoid portable gas heaters. They cause no end of condensation and run out of gas just when you need them! Getting gas can be a pain too as the tanks are quite heavy to cart up and down stairs...

Yes Lucy I agree they are very heavy when full, I didn't like the smell and the condensation caused damp & mould in our apartment.

All heating causes some condensation , electric heating. Makes the air dry. And I’ve found this can give you sore throats etc ..good ventilation is needed whatever heating  the best is pellet or log burners .. or if pos central heating  what I have found ( as a electrician under floor heating ( epecailly the ones produced today under tiles can work ..

I  have had gas heaters for 20years and have found no problems.  We now have an air con unit which is also a heater in the winter but i have a gas heater as a stand by.  If you have 2 gas bottles you just order a new one when one empties.  No problem.  Ok agree carrying upstairs would be a problem but if you have a lift in an apartment block should be ok.  I have never had heating in the bedrooms but have a small oil filled radiator in the bathroom on a timer which just heats it up for us in the morning.  That way you avoid expensive electric bills.  The aircon/ heater serves our lounge very well and the bills are not over the top.  But electricity over here is the most expensive  utility.    I also cook with bottled gas and need only 2 per year. Very economical.  Electric oven though and 1 electric hob plate which isnt used very much.  Shop  around. Neater heaters look great if you have sufficient sockets for the plugs.  We havent so can't really pass judgement on them.
