My wife and I are hoping to move to the Mojacar region permanently in a couple of years time and won't be getting State Pension for a couple of years after that. So we will be relying on savings to get us to State Pension age.I know rules will be changing because of Brexit and other things but we hope to come over and not have to work. We aren't going to buy but long term rent so what utility costs would be needed? Also a rough cost of Residentia TIE applications, Health insurance and anything else that we need to know about. Any advice would be gratefully received so we can save accordingly.

you will need to cost in the amount that the Spanish government want for an annual income which will rise every year I believe this has already been covered in previous posts by Dario.  I don't think you are allowed to come with just savings someone will confirm that one.  also who can predict what utility costs will be in a few years time!  as for health insurance costs again in a few years time what will your health be like who knows. with Brexit everything changed and the retire to Spain has become much harder for anyone thinking of doing it in the years to come sorry.

Hello stecath

As it currently stands, and unless there is a future agreement between Spain and the UK, the Spanish government has clearly stated that UK nationals will have to apply under the third country nationals immigration regime [much as a current resident of say the USA or Canada would] from 1st January 2021.

You will need to investigate obtaining a non lucrative residence visa. As to costs of such a visa and immigration process, its difficult for anyone here who has immigrated under EU rules to have any idea.

I found this blog post from an American which might give you some idea of the process and requirements, but do bear in mind this process does not currently exist for U.K. nationals, a new process of some kind will be introduced from 1/1/21 depending on the outcome of current talks!!!

Good luck and happy researching.....

Thanks for that. Still got a couple of years before we do anything solid so we do know that things will  change etc.
