I am going for Death Duty in the race. Each Way Bet = Best Value on the horse. Current Price 33/1 (most bookies paying up to 5 places)

Remember, Ii gave you all Rachael Blackmore last year not only at Aintree, but at Cheltenham, Leopardstown, Dublin Racing Festival.

And did the ones you gave last year win?????  The one and only time I have ever bet on a horse was the Grand National I was about 16 and pulled a name Team Spirit at a sweep Stake at work.  My dad told me it was a good horse so he went and put some money on it as well and it won, didn;t make us millionaires but I think it was about £200 which was a lot in those days. So good luck today.

Sadly no win here this year. Death duty fell at the 8th fence. Oh well, maybe next year.

He should have had the Win taken off him. Broke the rules, got a fine AND a ban.  Asshole.  sorry.   Didn’t care at all !   The first Jockey over the line , who stuck to the rules should get the Win. How can it be a Win if you broke the rules to do it?Is that not what they do with drugs?

Please keep me safe from anybody who just obeys all the rules - Give me flair and opportunism anyday.

Sorry about my racing tip though!

We had 3 out of the first six but not the winner. Made a modest £15 (1 bottle of gin here, 2 ½ in Mojácar). The national is a lottery

Perhaps someone can tell me, this. many years ago, there was talk of the Grand National being a cruel race, the hurdles were too high and many horses were injured or had to be put down, There was talk of banning the race, or at the very least lowering the hurdles. Did anything happen???? or did money speak??

Jenni, You'll always get the moaning Minnies who complain if they had to put a lead on their dogs. The Grand National is not a cruel event. You'll get injuries and occasionally a horse will need to be put to sleep. There's no sport without danger.

Incidentally, there are no hurdles in the Grand National, but there are different kinds of jumps. (I just threw that in in case you'd be talking to Devo or us racing buffs).

Matthew you didn't answer my question, so perhaps you dont know the answer, But you and I will never ever agree on animals welfair whether it be horses or dogs, elephants or ants. Its your opinion that the Grand National isn't a cruel event I seem to remember there were many that disagreed with you.  I suppose you think its Ok to hit a horse with a whip to make it go faster. I would love to do the same to those jockeys that do that.

I dont think Devo would be so pedantic, as you.

Have a nice evening.
