went to the carnival in Garrucha this morning for the first time. What a great time was had by all ages, the costumes were really good the dancing troups including small children very entertaining. Everyone was having a great time lots of noisy music and chaos. If any of the other carnivals in the area are as good it's worth going along.

Hi, I am currently in UK, and I have a flat in Garrucha. I am keen to enjoy such events. Can you point me in the right direction so I can find out when such events take place? Also was the carnival celebrating anything in particular? Cheers, Andrew.

Hi Andrew this is carnival week all around the areas this week. It's just a Spanish celebration but in Mojacar at the end of the week they have the "burial of the sardine" which is a local celebration I believe. You can log on to Mojacar town hall site for info and get regular updates on events from there. In Garrucha it is a matter of keeping eyes open for posters that appear nearly on the day!
