We are looking for a secondhand small car or van - can anyone suggest a reliable dealer within a 50km area of Los Gallardos?

Thanks

Gómez Ford - Huércal-Overa and see Harry Zarb.  Harry is a fantastic bloke, native English speaker and fluent in Spanish - he is the epitome of reliable and dependable; absolutely fantastic service from start to finish

Just been to them today in fact.  I bought my Peugeot 407 from Harry second hand.  He scrubbed and polished it, serviced it, registered in my name and obtained ITC all for the price advertised - so when he gives you the price of the car it includes all transfer fees and registration etc, no extra hidden costs.

They also do free safety checks if you have a long journey coming up; they’ll check oil / water / tyre pressures / lights etc etc etc and generally tighten and tweak anything that needs doing - and it’s a free service.

I cannot speak highly enough of Gomez Ford - they are to me what all car dealerships should aspire to!

Theo in the workshop speaks very good English, Harry is of course a native speaker and Andreas in the workshop also speaks a fair bit of English and is incredibly helpful.

I live in Vera now, but come service time or ITC time, car will be going straight back to Gomez.

Email is a good way to contact Harry - try [email protected]

Hi Diario

Found your email very helpful. I have been looking for a reliable second hand car for a while. Do you mind me asking what you paid for it and what sort of price range did his cars run from at the lower end? I know they hold their value but so far I’ve seen cars privately around the 2000 Euro mark which seems a lot for cars over ten years old with high mileage!

I will visit this guy when I’m back in April.

Thanks

Chris

Sure - I paid 3.500,00€ for a 2005 Peugeot 407 Diesel 6 speed manual.

Yes - cars here ARE pricey - they do hold their value and you can certainly expect to pay around 2.000€ for a good second hand car.  The advantage of buying from a garage is of course that they will sort out ITV etc for you, plus there will be a guarantee on the car.  Gomez Ford will find a car to suit your budget - as long as you aren’t looking for a low mileage new car for 1.000€ because that just isn’t going to happen.

You can probably get cheaper privately, but then “buyer beware” because there’s no guarantees your car will make it through the next ITV.

Thank you. Good to know. That garage seems like a very good starting place for me.

Appreciate you sharing this experience.

I hope you continue to be happy with your car.

Regards

Chrissie

I’m sure we will - it’s been fabulous and well worth the money so far :-)
