Hi everyone.  My husband and I are just about to complete on an apartment in mojacar pueblo. We're already planning for Christmas! Can anyone please help with details of where will be open on Christmas day and how to get there if the place is on the Playa, as I understand the bus won't be running.

Thanks in advance!

Hi

My understanding is that its a restricted schedule for the buses on certain days around Christmas (including Christmas Day) and the Town Hall publish a one-off schedule (like the one attached which was a couple of years ago), so if you're on Facebook I'd recommend 'Liking' the Mojacar Ayuntamiento official page and that way you'll get a heads up notification as & when they announce.

Also there will be taxis running although they're bound to be busy. Again if you're on FB then join the Mojacar Forum and the New Mojacar Forum, you'll see a search option to search the groups (it's a magnifying glass icon). Just do a search on something like "Christmas" or "Christmas dinner" and you'll get all the historic posts about which places have been open in recent times. Then you can check with the places directly to see what their offering will be this year. Also a search on the word "Taxi" will give you all the posts whereby people have listed the most common Taxi contact numbers & recommendations.

Hope that helps.

Rich

No worries....I totally understand that feeling of that first Christmas out here...(for us it was last year)...yeah it's special & you'll find that own way of making it your own.

Yeah like with UK there'll be some places that don't hit the mark so it's all about doing the research but ultimately even if its not up to par, it's all about wider context and about where you are, and moving out here etc, and the whole life-journey is a pretty major thing. So just get yourselves over & start enjoying it. There's loads on offer whether you want traditional fayre or more international offerings.

Part of the fun is sampling everything out here, so just get yourselves over & start to explore the new chapter!

Hi there,

Nobody knows what will be open yet I imagine.   With the present situation as regards prices (food,  gas &  electricity) ,  I imagine that businesses will be biding their time before comitting to anything. I rather think that more may close. The situation with cancelled flights etc, makes me imagine that Christmas will be a very quiet time in 2022 for Mojácar.

If there are no buses at Christmas, your only option is car hire or taxi to get to the beach I'm  afraid.

There was plenty of restaurants open last year,We live full time here and booked quite late for our Xmas  day lunch. So nearer the time l am sure your be able to book some where. If any restaurant in the Pueblo is open you could walk.Fairly sure you would be able to get a taxi to the playa.l have  been given taxi numbers from the restaurants they recommend.Best of luck

It's also worth remembering that Christmas in Spain is much more low key than elsewhere.  Christmas Eve is a bigger event, although more centred around family and Christmas Day is relatively quiet, that said there will still be places open in Mojacar.  The much bigger event is Epiphany (3Kings)which is the 1st Monday in January.  Enjoy your planning

Yes I agree lowie I've been there at at Xmas for the experience. NEVER AGAIN. It's bloody freezing, dead as a door nail everything closed that's worth going ,costs a FORTUNE back in the day,lol...3 years ago just to keep warm at night ,and yes ATMOSPHERE is none existing compared to England.Spain Is far apart at Xmas 🎄 time even in the spelling/culture. Not a bad thing BUT IN MOJACAR a world appart from england/benidorm.lol..

But each to there own.just my personal opinion having been there 6years now in All seasons.my best is Sept/Oct. My worst nov/dec/jan/Feb.

Hope this helps.see you in sept.
