spend 183 days in Spain and you will be a resident and pay tax here.  you can do the 90 in 180 and pay tax in the UK if you remain a resident of the UK.

if you have an Irish passport it is different but still if you spend 183 days in Spain you will be a tax payer in that country.

If you get a Irish passport you still carnt come and go as you please,

If you stay more than 180 days in any 12 months period one day over and you will be liable pay tax in Spain

Whilst with an Irish passport you retain freedom of movement, Spanish law requires you to “register” if you spend more than 90 days here - registering is Residencia.

To then retain Residencia, you have to comply with the rules of continuous residency which requires you spend no less than 183 days a year in Spain.  This of course immediately makes you tax resident and liable to pay tax in Spain on worldwide income.

that will depend on your age group and income.  You can google it for the allowances.  They are not as good as the UK for the starting points.  You are taxed on all of your income unless you have a civil service pension which is taxed in the UK but still has to be declared in Spain but you are not then taxed in it again.

You can only be a Legal Resident of one country. You have to choose which country that is, obtain residency if not your country of citizenship, then live by the rules of that country including the payment of taxes, driving license, healthcare etc. Whichever country that is you will have to spend a minimum of 183 days in that country each year for at least the first five years.

I'm still waiting for my Irish Citizenship application to approved - It's been 14 months now. Even if it approved I cannot get an Irish Passport as the Passport Office is not taking applications due to Covid and trying to restrict travel
