Hi, I’m sorry if this question has been asked before on the forum, but I went to the garden centre in Vera recently. I bought goods labelled at about €55 but at the till I was charged IVA on top, which raised my bill by about €10 extra. I was really taken aback about this, but there was a long queue so I didn’t feel I could query it at the time. Is this normal practice or have I been ripped off?
Can't say I have every had IVA added at the till, always displayed price is the price charged. If the seller is not including VAT in displayed prices then they must clearly indicate this with appropriate signage...
Your tax should be included in the price and identified after you have paid in your receipt, not added separately unless clearly signed in the store.
