There is a lot of knowledge being shared re winter flights from Scotland and Northern England - is there anyone flying regularly during off season months from Southampton or Birmingham into preferably Almeria or Murcia? As far as I can see only Ryan Air flys from BMX to Murcia - are all the negatives comments based on actual experience? Only reply if you have flown with them please as most of the negative comments on the BBC forum are from people that ‘never have and never will’ so in my view invalid! There must be more than one airline flying to Southern Spain during winter?

Hi,

Can't give you info on flights as fly from Manchester. But

The old Murcia airport is just about to close in favour of its replacement. Travel to and from Murcia airport was horrendous.unless hire car or friend pickup. No info re transport from new airport.

At least from Almeria or Alicante you have a better chance and of course www.exclusiveairportshuttles.co.uk

Have a safe trip,

From southern England Gatwick with EasyJet is really your only choice in winter into Almeria. For Murcia EasyJet will start flights to/from Murcia International at Corvera on 25th March. They claim to be still flying into San Javier until the 24th March but my understanding was that civil flights would stop there on 15th January so the intervening period is a bit unclear. From Heathrow you can get on BA throughout the winter to Almeria but you'll have to change planes at Madrid. It's quite a nice route in fact which I've done once as the schedule fitted in with work in London but it's a bit more expensive.

Last winter I drove down to Malaga and picked up a Norwegian flight to Gatwick and we've also done it few times into Alicante. The drive to/from Malaga Airport along the A7 coast road is a much nicer drive than to Alicante but it's 15-20 minutes longer.

From Birmingham you are limited to Ryanair to Murcia, Alicante or Malaga. I don't know what date they are swapping over to Corvera.

Bristol to Malaga or Bournemouth to Malaga can also be done on Ryanair throughout the winter.

Try Skyscanner we use them all the time. They give you best prices if you search UK to Spain.

Hi, we do the Bournemouth - Murcia flights throughout the year never had a problem.

Parking at Murcia airport is simple if you book it on line

Thank you - I haven’t tried Bournemouth - which airline do you find best from there?
