Hi all,

My hubby and I will be staying in Mojácar from 10th June for 6wks 😁

We would love to meet up with some expats to discuss living life in the sun.

We are particularly interested in viewing the surrounding areas such as Vera, Garrucha and Palomares before making life changing decisions.

Anybody free to meet for a drink and a chat would be appreciated.

Thanks Heather and Steve.

Hello Heather and Steve

I have lived in Vera Playa for nearly ten years. I strongly advise you to rent before you buy. That way you get to know the area, the area that you may want to buy in, alternatively you can rent in a different areas, or different size house or apartment. Rents are very competitive on long term renting. From 250/300euros a month to 700/800 for a really posh place!  A friend recently got a bargain in Turre, a one bedroom apartment in a complex with all facilities for less than 150euros a month. That was by getting in touch with a bank that has properties to let, some on long term leases. Until you try you don’t know!

Remember it’s sunny here, that means well hot in July August, can be hot 40 degrees with high humidity and loads of holiday makers; Some noisy until the early hours.

Hope you speak with the right people who will give you you the lowdown.

All the best from

Eddie

You can buy virtually anything locally that you can buy in the UK!

That's helpful Eddie, I didn't know that banks rented properties!! Have not seen anything like this anywhere before?

Hi Heather & Steve,

We are buying a property 30 minutes inland as you get more for your money but are staying in Palomares and we love it here. The town has a weekly market on Wednesday’s, banks, supermarkets, butchers, bakers, fishmonger, pharmacy, hairdressers, several bars and restaurants and the people are very friendly. There is a mix of English and Spanish. Properties seem to be reasonably priced too. Hope you find your dream home soon. Michelle & Richard

Hi Michelle and Richard

We arrived late last night to this glorious sunshine.

We are going to chill for a couple of weeks and then hire a car to view the differing areas.

Thanks for the positive comments about Palomares.

Thanks

Heather and Steve.

Do you have any further details re: the bargain rental via a  bank? My husband and I would like to spend a few months looking around the area with a view to settling here - so far we have tried 2 different areas and have found they are not for us.   It can be very expensive to keep moving around so any help in finding less expensive rentals would be greatly appreciated.   Thank you, Mary

We live in San Juan de los Terreros; it’s a beautiful coastal resort with sandy beaches and coves with the added bonus of a shallow sea. Lots of restaurants, paddle tennis, walk football, pétanque, 2 supermarkets, chinese stores, hairdressers, beauty salon, bakers, butchers, weekly market.

Mainly Spanish but an influx of international experts pats too.

There are also bank rentals within 5 mins of beach but think they are €350-500 per month
