I have travelled 6 times recently in Europe mostly to Spain and have used up 89 days against a 180 day period ending in the 8th of May. Can I return to Mojacar on the 6th of June and claim this as my next period of 180 days? It is unlikely I will get anywhere near this no again this or next year. Anyone an expert?

The information is totally confusing   Help

The Schengen calculator should help you confirm the date you are able to return, just add more rows as require in the following link:

Hi Peterlee, I did just that and it confirmed I had used 89 days and could stay for one more day to the 27/3/22! It then said if I re-entered on the 25/6/22 I could stay 90 days until the 22/9/22. Where did the gap come from and why?

Correction, 90 day period before new 90 can start.

Deafy, The Schengen calculators are accurate - and they will say also that once you have used up your 90 days, then you must exit the Schengen for an “equivalent period” - i.e. 90 days.  That is why your next period starts 25/6, because the 180 days count back always starts from current day - it’s a rolling 180 days

You need to count backwards. Ask yourself how many days have you used out of the previous 180. days.  If less than 90 you can use the remaining.  A Shengen calculator will help.

It can be a bit daunting as no-one wants to fall foul of the law but as previously mentioned use the schengen calendar with the link given if you haven’t already done so.  I find it invaluable as my mind goes blank and I start to panic but it really works well so good advice

Thank you all who responded. After long hours I have finally it. I go on Saturday so calculating backward means I look at all visits from the 10th of November. On that basis I have only visited 64 days so well within the 90 days. I will now start the clock looking back from my next visit so now really happy I understand..Thanks

The sting in the tail of course is now I am aware of the incoming requirement suggested in late 2022 of an Etias certificate…….watch this space.. no doubt be in touch.
