More fattening of the geese.  BoZo seems to think “no deal” could still be a good outcome for the UK, but as the proposed new legislation puts UK in breach of international law and threatens the return of a hard border in NI, it really does show he’s out of touch with reality.

I’m certain the nationalists will all be singing “Rule Brittania” (or at least humming the tune, beings there’s lots of syllables there) and waving flags at this news, but has anyone considered that taking this course of action damages Britain’s chances of further trade deals internationally?

Who will want to do deals with a country that simply goes back on them when it no longer suits them?

Should BoZo continue down this track, he will ensure that “Being British” simply becomes a synonym for “Being Untrustworthy and having your word mean nothing”

Can’t imagine there’s 52% of those who voted in 2016 that would readily want that label applied.

Brittania no longer rules the waves - she now appears to waive the rules

That Financial Times piece is getting some publicity in Ireland (both North and Republic). We will see some light sabre rattling over the next 6 weeks from all side. But, a deal has been on the table for quite some time. I would think that there more "fine tuning" to be done before it is signed off.

We credit politicians to negotiate the best deal for everybody and like I said this has already been mostly done. But, it is the civil servants that do most of the groundwork. We can be sure that the UK civil servants and those of the EU have already met over length periods and are just awaiting instructions from the politicians. The situation must be resolved in the next 6 weeks (not 15 weeks). All the public can do is sit back and hope the "fine tuning" gets over the line.

Incidentally, the largest goods port Dover is far from completion for Brexit consequences. This is getting some consideration in the press in ROI at the moment. I have no fear for 1st January 2021, but I have quite and amount of fear for 1st January 2023.

Jeez I’ve only just joined this forum as we ‘hopefully ‘ moving to almeria region before end of the year!  So many cynical and negative comments! Is this the norm? Well we are moving lock stock and barrel as it’s something we’ve always wanted to do, along with our 15 yr old daughter who is excited about a new life in Spain! We will take the risk as life is too short to have regrets. Please can I have some positives of moving to Spain!

OK! Here's a positive - The weather will be warmer and drier.

OK! I'll throw in a bonus positive:- I could be your new neighbour.
