After jan 1 2021 , can I stay up to 90days between jan 1-30 June? But can I then come for 90 days between july1-31dec?
for instance if I was in Spain for April/May/June 90 days, then could I come then July/Aug/Sept for 90days . Or would I have to have a 90day gap between last visit during 6month period before I can start my next 90 days in following 6months of the year ?

NO 90 days then 90 days gap then another 90 days allowed but remember it also includes any other country in the European Union. ie France
of course you may not be caught but the risk is high with a fine and possible ban.

If you google Schengen calculator you can download a date checker and play with dates so you can see the effects for yourself. It’s basically a rolling 90 days in 180, so the start date continuously moves and it is calculated retrospec

As others have pointed out it’s 90 days in 180. The Schengen calculators are ok but do suffer some limitations:
90/180 Schengen Visa Rule
The 180-day period keeps rolling. Therefore, anytime you wish to enter the Schengen, you just have to count backwards the last 180 days, and see if you have been present in the Schengen for more than 90 days throughout that period.
Now when you read it like that, if someone does 90 days, then leaves for 90 days and subsequently counts back 180 days, he/she/they will have been in Schengen Zone for 90 days in a 180 day period.... nowhere on Calculator Sites does it say anything about exiting for equivalent period and I think this is where a lot of confusion is creeping in, because the calculator is geared towards several trips throughout that 180 days totaling 90 days - there I can see how counting back 180 would serve to see if spread over that 180 days you had racked up your 90 days.
That calculation doesn’t work though when you’ve done 90 days in a block which started the 180 day period. Like I say, at the end of that 180 day period, you’ve done 90 days in zone BUT also 90 days out - the various Schengen calculators do not seem to be able to distinguish that your 90/180 is offset / reset by a 90 day break .....
All rules state though that after 90 days you must leave “for an equivalent period”, whereupon you may re-enter for a further 90 days.

Now THAT you’d need to put in the Schengen Calculator! - that kind of stay is exactly what they were designed for
UPDATE : just been and tried your proposed idea of 14 days every month and Schengen Calculator says YES!! I ran it up as far as October 2021 and it was rolling to show 84 days in 180 every new fortnight I put in - so well within limit.
I found this calculator the best to use for planning: https://www.schengenvisainfo.com/visa-calculator/

It really messes with your head - especially when you try and get it to calculate in blocks on 90 days!

Living here permanently Jen Jen, it is unlikely to be something you’ll have to worry about :-D
Me too - but I’ve been asked the question - and seen varying answers - so often now I thought I better try and get my head around it!
