Hi Ian,
Sympathies but no, nothing. There is no need for the Spanish authorities to do something. In my opinion it will go into the gross (double entendre intended) negotiations for leverage agains the UK.
My best advice would be to swot up the Spanish theory test whilst in the UK. I am doing the same at present (in SPain) and there is some weird stuff to get your head round, that would give you more time to get the practical hours in and the exam?
I downloaded the 160Mb (??) book out of interest for the theory and the preface, nicely written is all about a traffic cops experience with the antics of tourists driving in Alicante or Valencia.... Obviously not impressed with the standard of our drivers from Britain. :)
From my point of view about this and other things Spanish they really do not have much idea of what is outside Spain nor why there are lanes on roundabouts ertc
My guess is that even if something is negotiated there will be some kind of extra process to go through than just exchange your licence? Even before Brexit the police would go on about having a Spanish licence which I do not understand as the licence across the EU was standard and the access to DVLA to fine drivers who offended on holiday was already set up.
Now the driving schools are making hundreds out of the deal each time, punishing Britain for leaving and asserting themselves. It is all one sided. My cycle trailer for shopping is en route for Christmas and a new bike for the new year. Good luck to you!
There are several sites to practice the theory questions including the DGT. I got a bit flummoxed with the ABS symbol for a moment as my car doesn't have one :) :)
