Matriculate
Bringing a car to Spain in may and will be matriculating over but does this need to be done pre brexit exit and before December.
Post brexit is there any issue

should be no problem doing it but it will cost you. Insurance may also be higher. Probably better to sell in uk and buy in spain.

Agreed, matriculating a car to Spanish plates can be an expensive exercise, depending of course on the car. If it is one that has the ability to switch headlight dip direction, that shaves a lot of cost off - if not, you could be looking at upwards of 2.000€ to matriculate once all fees are paid.
You are also then left with a right hand drive car driving on right hand side of the road. If it is a car you truly live and adore, then you’ll obviously live with that ... if it’s not ... buy yourself a LHD car here - it could work out cheaper in the long run

It should be possible to do before 31 December. That is the final date of Transition. Brexit of course is already ‘Done’ for better or worse!
However if you plan to live in Spain it makes more sense to sell a U.K. vehicle in U.K. and buy a Spanish vehicle.

Chrisso, do we know if Brexit / end of transition will make much difference to the ability to matriculate a previously UK registered car?

Well. Americans have no problem matriculating the cars they have brought over as along as they meet European emissions specs. So I imagine there won't be any issues at least immediately as all UK cars currently meet European specs. But apparently import taxes might change. I don’t know how that works!
