Exchange a EU Driving Licence for a U/K driving Licence after Brexit

I know you can exchange your Spanish Driving Licence for a U/K driving licence if you return to the U/K having been a resident there for around 185 days but what happens if you cant meet that criteria of 185 days say 4 months before 31st December 2020 after Brexit.I did see a post saying the DGT your U/K driving licence will be valid in spain for 9 months after brexit but you must exchange it for a spanish one after that 9 months hoping this will also apply to the U/K.

there is a period of change over after 31 Dec. if you are unsure check the Government help site. if you are over 68 you get three years when you can use your Spanish licence if over 70 you must exchange when you qualify as a resident again ie 185days. if the licence expires you can't drive.

If you’ve previously held a British Licence, you don’t need to swap as such, just quote your driver number on the application form and a new one will be issued to you. As long as UK is GOING to now be your permanent residence, you don’t have to wait 183 days before applying.

I did this exact thing when returning from South Africa, I would not have been able to swap my South African Licence, but as I’d previously held a British Licence there was no problems.

Thank you,another thing that I need to sort out if you are travelling by Ferry from Santander on the 26th August 2020 at 21:15 and arrive in the U/K 27th August 2020 at 17:00 what day should you complete your Passenger Location Form on line the time scale being with in 48 hrs you leaving spain.
