People are out for the first time in a while, well most anyway. Self Distancing might as well not be there. Age Groups deciding when it is right for them rather than following regulations. Restaurant/Terraces opening all promising compliance.

Is it just me or is Covid-19 Second Wave on the way?

Morning Matthew,

It’s a difficult one to call. There seems to be a mixed reaction from bar and restaurant owners about opening with 30% then 50% capacity. Is it financially viable for them???

We won’t be rushing out soon to a bar that’s for sure. We haven’t taken safety precautions for the last 6 weeks for nothing.

As for walking, here in Terreros we can go out anytime as we are under 5000 inhabitants. When my wife went out yesterday she said it was busy and there were quite a few people she didn’t recognise( did people sneak in from other regions we wonder ).

Not sure Matt but my glass at least half full.Hopefully no wave 2 and we get back on a terrace sipping our favourite tipple- from May 11 onwards.

Time restrictions for walking don’t make sense because you have a concentration of people all out at the same time.It would make more sense to leave it discretionary to the individual.

Beach bars should be the beneficiaries when relaxed rules come in.Looking forward to paella in AKU AKU -sooner rather than later.

Are we going to see hordes arriving from Almería city when travel within Almería province permitted?

The visitors from Almeria City (and some visitors from Mojacar and its environs) will be moaning about the non Spaniards on the Playa whether they have residencias or not. It doesn't work the other way round.

It’s certainly a concern Matthew.  Like all the others, I hope there will be no second wave - although history would suggest otherwise. Maybe the warmer weather now will help kill it off?

That aside, there’s also confusion over who and what can open.  With limited opening of  shops in Almería province, hairdressers are opening as from 4/5 - tomorrow - but it must be appointment only, full PPE etc etc.  it was my (obviously incorrect) understanding that Monday was for essential services, in which hairdressers were included - but I see beauty salons and nail bars advertising that they are opening sooooooo ....?

The police on Saturday were out fining people who stayed out past their allotted time, so I wonder if they’ll start checking shops that are open as well?

Too soon, for my liking.  We will reopen our shop on 8 June, when other retailers are permitted - or whenever Phase 3 kicks in.

Because if there is a spike in infections, progression through the phases will be slowed - or reversed.

Well in the UK there’s been a much less strict lockdown than in Spain and the current rate of transmission is less than ‘one’ so the pandemic is declining. Looking from afar I would say the infection rates around Almería Provence are relatively low and so I think there is every reason to be optimistic. The return to normal will be slow but no reason to be too pessimistic in my opinion 🙂
