Is there a technical whizz out there who could fix my printer?  It's a nearly new Canon all-in-one WiFi printer, model TS 8350.  It won't work, and when switched on repeatedly displays Error 1259.  The manual says it needs to be returned to the Canon repair centre for attention.

I think the problem is with the bottom tray, but no amount of fiddling with it makes any difference.  I would like to avoid the hassle of packing it up and sending it away if help is at hand.

Thank you!

Error 1259 on that printer model occurs if the paper OUTPUT tray is not fully pulled out.

Make sure that the tray above the paper storage tray is fully extended and locked in position.

Yes, thank you for that Dario.  The problem with the output tray is that it won't lock in the fully pulled out position.  It just pulls all the way through, and out.

Ah. That would then appear you have an structural fault with the printer.  If the sensor is looking for the output tray to be fully extended, and it just pulls out, I’m guessing that sensor is going to return that error no matter what you do … as painful as it is, I’d suggest that needs to be returned and swapped under warranty

I had a Canon printer .  If your TS8350 is nearly new and is still within the manufacturer's warranty period it should be returned to the retail supplier from whom you bought it, not sent by you to the Canon repair centre.  If purchased on the internet that may, of course, require packing it up and returning it to the seller.  Have you done the right thing by retaining the original packaging?  It's a right pain but could be essential if you are to succeed in getting a replacement.

Thanks for that.
