Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum, and this is my first post. I'm hoping to rent late Sept/early Oct for an initial 6 months, everything is going ok at the moment, in touch with a few rental agents and like a few apartments that they have sent me, but a big stumbling block is that I've been online, and can't seem to find public, or a reasonable priced private transfer from Murcia airport, which would be my preferred airport to fly into. I think that 100 euros per person for a taxi, is overpriced, even though I realize it's a fair distance to Mojacar, and it been hard on the Alsa website to see how to maybe catch the bus into Murcia, then from there down to Mojacar. If I flew into Alicante there is a company called Exclusive Airport Transfers that offer a limited morning service for 30 euros per person which is good, but as people know it's a long old journey down.  Does anyone know if there is a similar sort of shuttle bus priced below 100 euros pp, or can anyone help with the bus route thing. I've been looking to rent in the area for a while, but unless I can get an easier reasonably priced way for my wife and I to travel home and back a few times , and also something I could pass onto visiting family and friends my winter sunshine may never start. I cant fly into Almeria as that involves getting to Gatwick which is about 200 miles from where I live. Many thanks in advance for any help, and sorry for such a long post,  Regards, Steve.

I've not used it so can't offer a recommendation but have a look at Airport Taxi Transfers which is showing 150 euros per car for up to 4 passengers.

I use Gatwick which is 650 miles from my home (flying from Inverness first so that's not quite the same as trying to get there by road).

Hi from Mojacar Playa,

What about a hire car? You would arrange to rent at the airport and leave at the agency in Mojacar, (assuming you choose an agency that has an office in Mojacar ). We hired in Huelva on one occasion and left it in Mojacar. That was Europcar. It's a windey old road from Murcia airport so hopefully you have a satnav or loaded smartphone. Lots of bad press about hire cars locally so photograph every panel start and finish, check fuel with rep, (there are fuel stations as you enter Mojacar ) & if they still try to defraud you then go to your CC Company. Goldcar is being mentioned and in fact took 50€ from my stepson's CC. Others have reported up to 150€ withdrawals for damage that was there on collection.

It's Exclusive Airport Shuttles and residents of Albox/ Arboleas have cited taxi fares of up to 250€ from Alicante.

It's the worse of the 3 local airports to fly in to in our opinion.

Sorry to be downbeat but it is worth it.

No it's not, it's a bloomin' new motorway - ok it costs €13.90 but it's empty because the Spanish don't like paying tolls. It only takes an hour and a quarter to Vera.

When flying into Murcia we always use Centauro with their premium policy. Really good and quick to get the car and get back home.

Thanks for the reply Rob, Sorry if I'm sounding a bit mean, but 150 euros one way still seem a lot, but it's more about finding a reasonable cost for friends and family if they come to visit, it wouldn't be a good selling point to come and visit if they stepped out of the airport and had to pay 150 euros straight away (300 both ways) for a long weekend visit.

That's why I find hiring a car far better value for money if staying for a week or two.

Could not agree more. I remember once about 30 years ago standing at a cold bus stop at 03.00hrs having been decanted from a National Express & waiting for public transport to.then ferry me to Gatwick for Goa flight.

Will send.pm.

Thanks Bob and Linda, no need to be sorry about seeming downbeat, I'm not feeling great myself, I'm thinking my apt rental isn't going to happen simply  over transfers from any airport. I did think and look at car hire one way, it's about 110 euros with Europcar plus extra for full insurance. It's what I said in my reply to Rob, I'm trying to look at the bigger picture as well, and I know some of my family wouldn't want to hire a car for the drive down. I've also been caught with hire cars before, your advice is good, but sometimes it doesn't matter how much you examine it in the rental parking lot, when you get to your destination, you usually found you missed something that the rental company didn't put on their sheet. I'll look at Centauro as well. If I don't rent now, Mojacar and surrounding areas really do look nice, and good on everyone who lives or rents there.   Steve.

Hi Steve,

I have been in and out of Mojacar for years and always find Murcia access to Mojcar difficult.Exclusive did try to transfer out of Murcia for a while but it wasnt viable so they scrapped it.they do offer a good service from Almeria and Alicante.

there are a number of people in Mojacr who operate onofficial transfers in private cars.If you dont have a problem being transferred in this way its probably your best bet. There is also a website called Bla Bla car where you can hitch a ride online.I have used it and found it ok but it may not be for everybody.

there is a local bus that goes from Murcia bus station to San Javier and you can get a taxi from there to the airport for about ten euro.

Hope I have been helpful.

Dan
