Just arrived back in Mojacar via Alicante airport. On hiring a car from Gold Car I got an extremely over the top hard sell for extra insurance. Even though I had taken insurance from "Do You Spain" plus had also extra excess in Ireland the sales pitch continued. I throught I eventually convince the agent that I did not want extra insurance I paid for petrol and signed for payment. When I was picking up the car it was dirty and in a terrible condition which I poited out to the Gold attendent in the parking lot. She told me not to worry that I had full insurance taken out at a cost of €200 plus. Went back to the terminal desk to seek my money back. The cleck I had dealt with previously was gone so spoke to another cleck. Again another big argument on insurance and the only satisfaction I got upgrade to a nice nee car and her email address to email her next time and she would give me a good deal on insurance. I feel that Gold Car stole my money and would like to warn people of their tactics. If you have a similar experince I would like to hear from you.

Try Mocar Rent a car in Mojacar. Our experience there has always been good and fair. Read the reviews on their website too, they will give you an idea of what to expect.

Yes it's well known that gold star are rip offs,surprised to see a post like this,may be lesson learned the hard way!!read the posts from this site 1st!! But most importantly Read the reviews from there sight 1st it's a no brainer to stay away from Gold 🌟

It is all very simple, Gold Car wants everybody to use their insurance because in case of any damage they dont like to deal with all kind insurance companies.
So next time book thru do you spain but do not use their insurance instead take the goldcar insurance and also it is better to book direct a full insured deal with goldcar they will then give you a far better car. never had any problems that way and for cheapdeals go local

They are absolute scumbags. I write to both do you spain and gold car never got a response. The fuel protestors should spray there booths. They are con artists
