Hi I am looking to get wireless internet and am based on Mojacar Playa, does anyone know the actual speed they get on the Playa, not the speed you could achieve?

Thanks

We are  with with Telplay and total ignoramuses. They do a variety of mbs, I think that's the stuff. We have been happy with system & service and went to them because 2 sets of neighbours with 2'different Brit.Companies were getting terrible problems, buffering, etc.

www. Telplay will answer your query.

Hi Bob and Sandra,

Thanks for the reply. I have emailed Telplay and am waiting for a response.

Yes companies will do various mbs but you could be paying for say, 25 mbs for 30 euros a month, but actually be only receiving 8 mbs so in turn overpaying. The speed they advertise and the speed you can achieve can vary massively in the UK and Spain.

We will be using internet for IPTV box no calls only TV - is this what you use it for too? The buffering you're friends experienced will be because their internet wasn't strong enough. You need a minimum of 40 ping (the lower the better) and 4mb download speed (constant) for the box to work.

Are you on Mojacar Playa? I wondered if you could test your broadband speed - http://beta.speedtest.net

This is free, simple and will give you the stats. I would do it myself but I'm in the UK at the moment!

Thanks for your time.

That's all so impressive. Have a man who can check. We use.Firestick loaded with kodi for Netflix & Exodus. We were getting UK TV through as well but just lately this has disappeared as it has in UK with our son????????

Best Wishes,

Hi Bob and Sandra,

So you don't pay a monthly fee for the IPTV box, you just stream through Kodi?

I have seen some people do this but there's also a service that you pay a few euros a month for IPTV which is like an exclusive server for those who pay - meaning more reliability and less people draining the source I'm guessing. I'm still waiting on a few companies to come back to my emails and then I'll give you the low down on what they say!

Exodus has died in the UK too, been really rubbish recently. We use 'Elysium' now instead of Exodus.

Here at the instructions to load it on the box - https://seo-michael.co.uk/how-to-install-zen-kodi/

Hi

I would recommend that you get Internet via your phone line (ADSL). There are many providers that do not offer this who are massively oversubscribed with users. Hence there are major buffering issues with the amount of live streaming taking place. Try Vodaphone 41.50 per month for 30mb broadband. Its more expensive that Teleplay, Telitec, Wimax etc, etc. but via ADSL you will not suffer buffering.

I use Wimaxonline.es to watch IPTV they provide an excellent service.  Email or call them and tell them I recommended you speak to Alex.

Hi Colin,

Thanks for the info.

I did try Telitec for an ADSL line and they said that they didn't cover the area at the moment. However they said they will be laying down fibre optic cables in 12-18 months in Mojacar which gives up to 300mbps! Do you know if it's only Vodafone that does?

Do you have to pay a monthly line rental too as well as the internet or does it come as a package? The property has a phone line but we don't know if it's in use or working (we've just purchased the property)

Hi Karen - I did look at Wimax as that's who the previous owner was with but I have found some new customer competitive rates elswhere.

I think it will be between Next, GSF and Telplay - although all of these are 'wireless' not ADSL internet.

It's turning into a minefield and I actually understand the internet jargon - god help anyone who doesn't!

Hi

41.50 includes the telephone line rental. When Fibre Optic is available any provider can tap into it. This has been stated by the Spaiish Government, to ensure they comply with EU law on fair competition. Originally Movistar where planning to sweep up with it, but were told otherwise. I'm not sure of other ADSL providers.

We'll be moving to Mojacar Playa in a few weeks time and I've been led to believe that fibre is already available. Is this not the case?
