I have an account with Unicaja to pay my bills and I use the Mojacar branch.  Every so often they insist on sending me letters through the post to my home in England.  I know my Spanish should be better but at nearly 70 years old its not easy learning a new language.  I managed to get hold of an email address for the manager (I think) who gave me very limited help but has stopped responding completely when I firstly asked him to send via email and not by post or if that was not possible could he send an email as well with the text as characters and not simply a scan of a pre typed or printed page so I could get help with Google translate.

I had two very long (5 or 6 page documents) and I have no idea what they are  saying.  If its just to tell me about a change in terms or charges I dont mind much but they could be trying to inform me of something I need to take action on.

I am sure I cant be the only customer with language difficulties so firstly does anyone know of anyone in the Unicaja bank organisation who is responsible for helping oversees customers?   Failing this is there anyone who might know how I can get OCR (optical character recognition) in Spanish or is anyone prepared to have a quick look at the scanned documents and advise me of any action I need to take.

Many thanks for any help anyone can give.

If you have a smartphone you can scan the document using google translate, once scanned select all the text and it will be translated into english or any other language you care to choose......

Thanks for the suggestions I assumed that I would need to find spanish OCR software but it looks like it might be built into Google translate.

Google translate is brilliant, I use it all the time for documents in Spanish.....it might not be 100% correct but you can get a much better idea of what is contained within the text you need to understand....

I thought I would give an update, I have tried using my phone but trying to use the small screen to capture a readable text was very difficult but I persevered with some success.   I tried scanning the document to a pdf but I couldnt get google to recognise and translate the text.

Now a tip if anyone receives the latest letters I got.  These turned out to be the proof of non residency documents.  Although most of the letter was in Spanish the bottom half was in English so another possible solution is to thoroughly scan the document to see if you can find any english translation.
