Hello, We are living in the UK at the moment but will be moving to Spain. Our dog has a UK issued pet passport which is still within date but no longer accepted in the EU.

If it was issued in an 'current' EU country it would still be acceptable by the EU and UK.

How do I get a passport for our dog issued in Spain? I guess I need an AHC (Animal Health Certificate) to bring hin to Spain and get a vet in Spain to issue a new passport.

Can any one suggest an honest vet near Mojacar?

We used Clinica Veterinaria Mojacar to obtain our dogs EU Pet Passport. Both the vet and receptionist speak very good English. As well as normal vet treatment they deal with emergencies too. Fantastic service from them. They are on the playa in Mojacar. You can find them on google.

We have several vets in Huercal Overa, most speak english, excellent service and far cheaper than uk

Hello!

Had an AHC (at a cost of £150) to take our dog out to Mojácar a month or so ago.

We then obtained a Spanish pet passport from the vet in the Commercial Centre. Passport was €15 and a rabies jab €20 (required annually in Andalusia apparently). Very easy and quick and will save us a fortune moving forward and away from the AHCs.

(Shame it’s not so easy for humans to get a EU passport!)

The EU issued passport as long as not issued by the U.K. is valid for travel between the EU and the U.K. It must have up to date Rabies jabs in it though. U.k. vet cannot write it it, get the AHC and Spanish vet to write up ,if they will with the info from the AHC. Then it’s just rabies every year done in the EU. We were having to have 2 AHCs , was told by, after transferring to an Official vet back in May sole purpose,they knew I needed one in September , so they would do it for me. Quoted me £125 each Now they have no appointments ! It would have to be done out of hours, and would now cost £1000! not my fault. I am going to have them do just one now as one of my dogs rabies isn’t actually up till next July,I was only being belt and braces. Now they say £670 ! Bruceview in Stirling.😄. Got an appointment with Passpets in Portsmouth and the cost is £99 first pet and £50 pet after that ! You give all the info by emails,and on the day,they see the dog and issue the passport. Mine have Romanian issued passports so if the Rommy EU passport can’t be marked up on one of them I will get a Spanish passport too. good luck. I hope this helps someone. I am going to have it done by the ones who should be called Turpin not Bruceview 😄.
