We are due to travel to Spain in September with our dogs.Knowing the Status of a country could change overnight and that It’s the end of the holiday season so if a spike does happen , it would be then , we are extremely worried about having to quarantine in a Hotel on our return to U.K. as we have two dogs with us.    Has anyone heard anything in connection with this at all ?

Yes it’s quite a worry Jenny,I couldn’t find anything either.   Just the forgotten ones we are lol    I’ve emailed DEFRA so i will post their answer.   I just thought someone on here may have had the experience of the quarantine.

I AM FUMING.   I sent the email directly to DEFRA and it’s been passed to these people.    Pass the buck, our govt are great at that !     Here is what I just received.    I CANNOT believe that no one in this God Forsaken Country Knows what the hell they are doing.  Here’s the screenshot of the reply.   🙈 What if I was arriving TODAY !

That is unbelievable, what has this to do with Track and Trace, we are talking about dogs, I'll send one to Defra as well see if I get the same response. You might have been unlucky and just got a 'jobsworth'.

OK I went back on the Defra site, and found this information below under the section 'Before you travel'..

Check if you’ll need to quarantine because of coronavirus (COVID-19) when you arrive in the UK - you’ll need to arrange care of your pet while you quarantine if so.

So basically it is saying there is not provision for animals in Quarantine  hotels, so you need to have someone ready to take the dogs off you UK side incase you need to quarantine.

Nightmare!!!!!

Yes i followed the link they sent but we would be landing in Portsmouth so how can our Friends or Family just pop by from Scotland and collect the dogs 🙈.   I think that as they organised this abomination of an arrangement they should have made provision.  I take my dogs to Spain as I don’t want them in kennels and no one looks after them as safely as me .  They are my family.  it’s just so upsetting.   It’s ok that it’s not till November we will be heading home to Scotland but the not knowing what Spain’s status will be is a nightmare  , so house in Spain for sale, and Spanish car too.

Hi L181Sky,

Its typical isn;t it, people like us are in a difficult position, luckily I live in Spain full time at the moment and have no intention of travelling back to the UK in the near future, but like you when I do travel my animals come with me.. After taking with my husband we came up with this idea.  One of you travel by themselves back to the UK in time to do the required quarantine, the the 2nd person with the dogs travel back, and then the 1st person would be at Portsmouth to take the dogs should the 2nd person need to quarantine.  Hope that makes sense.

I can see why you are selling up, I would in your position as well. Its too much hassle and uncertainty.

Have a good evening
