Hi, We visited Mojacar in October & fell in love with it & are thinking of buying there but I like to swim & snorkel, it seemed to be windy every day with large waves plus I saw wind surfers there, im asumming that it’s like this all the time ?  Are there any small coves anywhere along that stretch if coast where it would be calmer?

Everybody seems to get the wrong idea about weather in mojacar, its generally windier everywhere during the winter months, yes we have winter! In summer when its more likely you'll be in the sea its very calm almost all the time.so don't be put off by the wind in winter!!

Thanks for replying Jenjen, when we were there the temp was high like 30c most days & someone said that the only time the sea is calm is in the mornings & evenings & like it every day.

Ok thanks again, we will have to visit in the early summer & see it then. I know that a lot of people are not bothered with the beach & sea but I’m a real beach bum! 😎

Hi, I can recommend San Juan de Los Terreros for snokelling. I go there quite often myself and the beach is child friendly as the beach slopes gently and not many rocks. There are loads of small fish to see and they will even take bread etc from your hands. I have been to a few beaches along the coast and this one is my favourite. It also seems to be less windy than most. I don't know why. The beaches in Almeria are also good for snorkelling when it is less windy and if you take a net with you, you can even catch cuttlefish and octopus.

Hi Karl, yes I was thinking of sjd as I had seen it on A place in the sun & I thought that it looked lovely with nice small coves which I prefer, rather than long open beaches, but I don’t know much about the area.
