So you think you can't be scammed . . . Yes, you can and it's easier than you think
A story from today's quality Irish newspapers. You're selling something online and you receive a telephone call from a guy/gal offering more money than advertised. The caller wants to transfer money to your bank account immediately. Your eyes light up with such a quick sale for that unwanted item and you willingly supply your bank account number. Why wouldn't you? He's offering more money than you wanted just to have it posted to him.
His address is fake, of course and when you check your bank account you learn that it contains less money now than it did twenty minutes ago. And the scammer - he claims he never scammed an honest person.
And the moral of the story is Cash is king, repeat Cash is king, and only after it has been presented to you. Never divulge your bank account number to anybody.
