I would say ferry,as they have pet friendly cabins or kennels where you can visit your pooch and walk it,driving through france is a long way without pets,yes there are pet friendly hotels but you will still look at 30 odd hrs travel.

Others will say take the France route,

pet courier? if you are driving why pay someone else to drive your pets

what the paperwork will be now I dont know

We travel twice a year with dog, use ferry, hardest part is 6hr drive in uk

we are really struggling to find best way to travel to our Villa with two dogs and would appreciate as much help as possible please .

We live in the midlands so what would be best place to catch ferry and head to where Bilbao or Santandar .

What is the best ferry company to use and can you book online with the dogs ?

having never done this what is the procedure re dogs paperwork wise to travel and the same when returning.

There is only 1 ferry company that sail to Spain and that is Brittany ferries,booking with pets is relatively easy however I am not up to date with the pet passport requirments but it should be on their website

Rare uu can book a dog on the website you'll have to ring in. Be as flexible as possible, portsmouth or Plymouth, and any date. There's little difference between santander and bilbao as long as you have a good sat nav and know how to set it for spain. Drive to almeria atea is around 10 hours, we break journey with a night in pet friendly hotel
