Spain so far has not complied with EU recycling laws.
A few areas have coloured bins but the vast majority of urbanizations only have "black bins" usually emptied late at night every two days.
Larger household rubbish like old furniture, beds, mattresses, electric water heaters, whatever, come under new national laws instigated in 2017.
You are now allowed to leave these sort of items next to a black bin on the eve of the 6th and 20th, only.
The refuse collectors on these nights will assess the load and order a truck, usually for the next day although in reality it may take a few days.
The new laws were published fully in Spanish and English newspapers.
However, most people do still not know of these laws. For this reason the government added their was ' a period of adjustment' expected.
A word of warning, dumping stuff outside these parameters of the 6th and the 20th evening will incur heavy fines if you are reported or spotted by any of the authorities council workers, Policia, Guardia etc. That national law stays and has always been active in Spain.
