I am looking for a recommendation on a Tax Consultant who can give some guidance on Spanish  income taxes, Modelo 720 and 210 etc.

Any pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Geoff Basson.

Hi Geoff.

I recommend isabell Lopez in vera Town. I have used her firm for nearly 20 years. She speaks English and has a fully staffed office that has been there since I started going to mojacar. Files my returns and set up all local tax payments. Her number is 0034950393071 and you can Google her name and tax advisor Vera and see her website. Noel Regan

Hi Geoff,

Here are some keys that you should bear in mind.

- Tax residency is crucial. If you spend more than 183 days during the calendar year you will be deem tax resident in Spain. If so, you should file Modelo 100 (Renta), Modelo 720 (assets abroad disclosure) and Modelo 714 (wealth tax, if applicable). I do not work with any tax consultant as i'm not tax resident in Spain. A friend of mine used the servieces of Beltran Asesores in Almeria city but honestly I don't know how they work.

- If you spend less than 183 days you will have to pay taxes on the Spanish source income. If you own a property in Spain you should pay taxes wether you let the property out or not. For this, you should file Modelo 210. For non-resident taxes pyou may use an online alternative such us iberiantax.com or just filing your own taxes though the Agencia Tributaria portal. The latter requieres some specific knowledge an online signature issued by the spanish tax authorities if you wish to direct debit the payment.

Hope it helps.

Regards

Tony

Hi Tony, Thanks so much for your reply, and apologies for the delay in responding. I have since my post spoken to a couple of local tax consultants and now have a much clearer idea of what is required.

Thanks again

Geoff.
