Hi,

My wife Linda and I are finally on holiday. Travelling in our motorhome to Portsmouth for ferry to santander. Then benidorm for 1 week then onto Los gallardos. Arriving 16th. Any tips or advice welcomed.

Thanks

Having a base at LG will be good, depending on the police you will be able to 'camp' overnight in most places on the playa

Palamares near Vera and Garrucha has lots of space for camping on the beach and there is a chiringuito  there as well. Most mornings the bread man goes and delivers fresh bread and croissants. There is also a garage that sells water milk snd a few bits you may need. If you need to fill,up with fresh water or dispose of waste water, you can spend a day in the campsite nearby. Not expensive if you have the ACSI card. I live not far from Los gallardos and also go down yo the beach in our camper so if you need any more advice please feel free to pm me.

Los Gallardos campsite? Generally quiet, quite a few overwinters, and apparently 'the best ' fish n chips .

Regarding Palomares beach, it is officially forbidden to stay overnight, so be prepared. Couple of miles east to Vilaricos it appears to be legal.

If you want to see another side of Spain, head inland to places like Lubrin, Sorbas, Tabernas etc etc. Much more than beaches and tourists .....

I’ve stayed on the beach at Palamares many, many times and never been turned away. There are always many campers that stay  there.

Maybe Sveinb you are thinking about the sign with a tent crossed out. You are not allowed to camp in a tent on the beach but correct me if I’m wrong, there are no signs saying no motor homes.

I did notice a 'campsite' just outside Vera that looked as if it was a 'council' run place

Yes there is a campsite on the road that runs from Iceland towards Valle de Este, on the right just past the mini roundabout. It looks fairly basic but seems to have the necessary facilities, electric, toilets etc.

Apols delay..

I believe the tent sign is universal for all sorts of camping, mobile homes included. I know of people who have been requested by police to leave at 10-11 at night. There are so many other safe places further along, why bother?

I guess that's camping VerdeVeras, a sort of eco camp. Looks rather rundown,  see they charge 17 euro/night.  I'd rather go to (and been to several times) Carpe Diem off Carretera de Ronda. Very well organised, clean facilities,  and 10 excl elec.
