Vet in France
Has anyone used a vet for the required tapeworm treatment before crossing on the euro channel? We are told our dogs need it 72 hours before we cross. Any information appreciated

There is a vet about 20 mins from the tunnel, but.................it appears you have to book in advance because they keep very little supplies in house and have to order them in. So if you just turn up chances are they might not have the worming tablets.
When we bought our pets back to the Uk in September we got our local vet in Albox to do all the necessary stuff, worming, paper work etc. then when we got to the tunnel its straight forward you have 5 days to get from Albox to the Tunnel.
I have done this journey many time in the past, but since Bretix they are being, in my opinion ,over the top, you really need to have all the i's dotted and t's crossed. One of my cats was nearly refused entry because it didn't have her birthday on her passport, which we didn't know cos she was a feral cat. Stupid rule what difference does a when she was born make.
Hope this helps

Hi
We live in France and we know that all the Vets around Calais charge mega high rates so I would advise you to choose any Vet en route as they are bound to be cheaper. We live in Brittany and our Vets are brilliant, (we have 4 dogs), they have all state of the art equipment and are about 5 times cheaper for tapeworm etc.(UK treatments) than the ones near Calais. 4 dogs to UK cost us about 80€ including full examination.
Good luck.

We use our vet in Garrucha the day before we set out for the drive - so we’ll within the 72 hours rule. Easier cheaper and more reliable I think

Very helpful member
It has to be 24 hours before so a vet in Calais would be no good really - I can’t remember if it’s 96 or 120 hours but either way you should be able to travel from here to Calais in 96 hours
