Might I suggest this. You follow the A7/E15 motorway from Huercal Overa to the coast. We have friends at La Conception, very pleasant, Antas, more.there than we.thought. Palomares &   Cuevas  nearer coast and pros & cons. Just so many places to explore. As we always advise your best bet is.to come  out for 4-6 weeks with transport preferably, rent and explore the area- but once the Summer is over. Chevyrecylar who posts on this Forum and recently arrived lives in Urcal and loves it. One of our properties is 5km away and I wouldn't countenance Urcal. It's horses for courses & a huge decision to get right.Every Best Wish,Bob and SandraMojacar Playa and Las Norias nr. UrcalPS if and when you come out ask if any members are.prepared to meet over coffee & cake (you buy!!!! ). Lots of things can be aired/discussed. Anything specific then pm

Got to second the colonel, we love the peace and quiet here in Urcal.

There seem to be a few nice villas with pools, 3 bed 2 bath usually, Voss homes are the agent.

Urcal is just about 6 mins from the A7 E15 autovia, roughly 12 minutes from Huercal Oveea and we can get to the coast, Garrucha, Villaricos, Mojacar etc in around 45 minutes obeying the speed limits lol.

In the village is a small Coviran supermarket, doctors, bar/restaurant, partner is there with other new neighbours on a darts night friendly, theres quite a bit to do close by, I'm in a camera club in Turre, there's golf, markets are on most every day some wheres, it's not totally Ex pat nor Spanish but it's friendly and as you'll find, there's lots of help on the forums.

Best of in your search. As the colonel says, we love it here. We've been here since the end of March and have had partners parents and ex boss over staying here, we have a pool which is handy in the heat, Huercal Overa is a nice place with a world class hospital, we have regular patrols from the policia local and the guardia and the street lights are on all night !! Lol, so we feel as safe as I guess you could.

The colonel's a peach lol, and if you do come over you wont necessarily have to pay for the tea/coffee, but not on sunday or monday as the bar is closed lol.

Anything you want to know just ask, bob's been here longer but we're going thru all the newer stuff you need to put in place like cars, paperwork, etc etc, the list is fairly comprehensive and given the great and almighty google translate you/we get by.

And just a few/kilometres away theres an english chippy lol. Mushy peas etc lol, what more could you want.

Have fun in your quest. Check out "The Hub" where the advice is genuine and free and the coffee and bacon sarnies are mucho !!

Best regards  Jim n Ann

They should make you Alcalde of Urcal and Andy Voss pay us both commission.

It's so.pleasant to have someone accentuating the positives. Usually all we get are.the whiners.

Saludos,

Bob and Sandra

Welcome to the area, not sure where Fuente Amarge is, your listed as Albox, is it over that way ?,  lots of things centre around Albox not least of which is the brilliant market. Have fun, drink in the peade and quiet, at least it is here, sit back and enjoy the much slower pace of life and possibly wonder why you didnt do it sooner lol.

Hi. & parallel Jim's welcome.are you not out past Santa Maria de Nieva about 15km from HO?

So get settled in and we'll think about meeting for.coffee or a meal although tend to favour Albox or Garrucha or Mojacar Playa.

Any advice. Feel free.

Hi

And thanks for the welcome. Not sure why I registered at Albox, property is north of Santa Maria and south of Los Lucas resturant on ramblas. Its the village with the fresh water spring and wash shed.

Sounds like the old fashioned caravan park where they had communal showers and water came in a big rolling bottle,

Youre not far from here then, darts night is Thursday at the coviran bar lol. But bar is open from early till late, closed Mondays.
