Hi, try www.eyeonspain.com/agricultural water. Or just type in Agricultural water, Spain.

We have an isolated rural finca with no amenities. We have 2x 6000L & 1x 2200L water tanks which we keep topped up either from the local fuente in Urcal/or Puerto Lumbreras or by tanker. This is just for washing, cleaning as we selectively keep Puerto Lumbreras fuente water for cooking and drinking (boiled). No hardship once you factor it into your daily routine but we are retired. At our Mojacar apt we wouldn't dream of using tap water for anything but washing/ cleaning & I believe many feel this way about Arboleas tap water, etc. Gratefully water in supermarket inexpensive but heavy if elderly.

Best Wishes,

Bob and Sandra

Agricultural water I believe is whats known as "non-potable" water suitable mainly for horses/animals etc.

If you drive around Urcal for example where we live, not far off Bob n Sandra, as well as other small villages you might/should come across roadside or street corner water fountains with "non-potable" warnings on them.

It's mostly taken for granted that you buy big bottles of water from the local supermarkets, you can buy a pump you can attach to the larger neck bottles, 5 litre and 8 litres, yeah theyre heavy but you can always adapt a trolley or barrow  but thats not really feasible if you have stairs.

You can also buy water filter jugs that will treat tap water, fill it and then fill up jugs you can put in the fridge.

We/I go through a lot of ice and that just seems fine.just dont be surprised at the size of the "ice cubes" lol.

We have our own well for washing/toilets etc but fill big jugs from the public fountains in Mojacar and Turre for cooking and drinking. Don't bother buying when it's free.

All well and good Suze but the poster is listed as living in Huercal Overa so not really "local".

Just the other day we passed a truck that was filling 8 litre empties but since the truck wasnt sign posted we couldnt say if it was drinking or otherwise water, but as you say, why pay/buy water when it's potentially free.
