Motor Vehicle ITV
Hi there I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a garage in the Huercal Overa area to carry out the ITV on my vehicle.

Hi, do you mean a pre-ITV Check or to take the vehicle to the ITV for you?
In the latter case I would take it to the ITV, having pre-booked an appt, with an interpreter if you feel you need one. If it fails they give you a record telling you the faults to be rectified & I think you have 3 weeks to present for another test which is free. Over that it's the same test fee. If you fail you have to return to the same ITV for retest.
Would recommend my Spanish Mechanic but he is in Puerto Lumbreras.
Best Wishes & hope some of that is useful.

Partner used "The Garage" on the Poligono on the right going into Albox near the bowling alley.
Did a service, pre ITV new headlamps etc and took it to Lorca testing station for her.
As a base guide you'll probably be looking to pay anything from €10-€20 per hour for translators which you'll obviously have to factor into any costs.
Cars under 10 yrs old get an ITV valid for 2 years, older get just a one year ITV.

If you are pretty certain your car will pass, you can book it on line and the ITV station in Albox have a couple of testers who speak a small amount of English. Garages will charge you anything from about 30euros upwards just to take it for you. Actual cost of the test is between around 40/50 euros depending on engine size, petrol or diesel.
Good luck,
Best wishes,
Paul.

Thanks Paul. Used Gomez in Huercal Overa this time They took it to Lorca, did pass OK. Still finding my way around all the merchants and struggling. Timber, auto parts and steel suppliers. Not as prolific as West Yorkshire

Hi Vinny, you will find loads of hardware stores all over the place. There is a big timber shop/ferreteria about 6km down the A7 from the A334 turn off. Depending what metal you want there are a couple of metal works, one at Longo's and The metalworks in Albox but there is a metal supplier near Sola builders yard at the top of Zurgena. At the roundabout where Sola is in front of you take the next urn up the slope and it is the first building on the left. You will find prices where all the English go tend to be a bit more than where the Spanish go.
There are a couple of auto part shops, one on the sliproad going up to Longo's near Albox and another at the petrol station just up from Iceland in Vera. Gomez Ford are quite a good garage with the bonus of Harry being English.
Hope this helps,
Best wishes,
Paul.

Thanks Paul. Once I get sorted with them I can get a few jobs done that my foreman keeps hinting about. Cheers

With regards garages, I can also recommend Costa Coches in Antas, run by James and Claire Whitehouse. Brilliant service, fair prices and for me the biggest bonus is that if you send them an email, Claire WILL respond to you - maybe not immediately, but she WILL get back to you with information you require - be it costs, availability etc. Can highly recommend them.
