Hello all, I expect this has been asked hundreds of times so sorry in advance. When my wife and I make the move over from the UK end of the year early 2023 will need a bank after getting nie etc. Any advice on best bank to go to in the area here or along to Albox area. I know some charge but understand if regular payments go in it sometimes is free or buying a service etc. Both learning Spanish but when we arrive could still need a bank that can speak English. Thanks in advance for help, advice etc.

I’ll recommend Sabadell. Their tagline is that they offer banking in your language. An Expansión account is 100% fee free.

to get this you’ll need 700€ a month going in, and one of their products - I have a tiny investment account with the minimum amount I leave in it.

The 700€ can be transferred out if your bank account and back in and that counts as a 700€ deposit. All they look for is that money coming in - not that you’ve taken it out and paid it back in

Cajamar Wefferant acount. Very good online banking and no charges. Lots of Cajamar branches in the area. Can set up in the bank and also go in if need to do anything so get the best of both worlds. We use Mojacar who have English speaking staff. Most other branches have English speaking staff but people from other areas are better to comment on this. We set up our NIE number in the UK. Easy to do. Cost less than £8.

I am still in UK and have an account with Caixa bank in Albox, pay in approx €1000 a month and use my account for all payments etc. Not been charged for using account would definitely recommend them you can also open when in UK
