Which is the best bank to open an account with in Huercal-Overa, with helpful staff?  I need a bank with a good internet service, and although my Spanish is pretty good, I prefer to deal with online banking in English.  I would be grateful for recommendations.  Thanks.

Banco Sabadell is very good and has a good website, an app that works well and staff that speak better English than my Spanish. Our branch is in Vera which is used to dealing with British (and German/Swedish/Dutch) expats. The website is in English and you will also find that with the card Sabadell give you it automatically knows you are English so the ATM automatically comes up in English as well which is a nice feature. The Key Account is the one you want and your lawyer should be able to set it up for you. We've been very pleased with Sabadell for the last couple of years.

Hi Rob

Sorry to but in, lol.  Hope you don’t mind me asking, but, are the bank charges reasonable with Sabadell?  And have you tried international payments with them.

Many thanks

Jay

Hello Dr Bob and All.  Must agree about La Caixa. Huércal Overa branch - no-one speak English.  Thier website really us a bit if a disaster, especially on the English version. Keeps reverting back to Spanish. The number if mistakes are horrendous as well. Thus is only my version of the service. I must say that La Caixa in Albox speak English, but obviously no change in their website ....

We have found at least 3 people employed in Caixa bank speak English in Huercal-Overa and even those who do not are really helpful and patient with my lack of Spanish and attempts to converse.   I also find their app really user friendly.

We use Caixa and are happy with them. Fees are not low but none of the Spanish legacy banks are. The app and online banking systems all are available in English.

Mostly though I just use it for Spanish direct debits for institutions that insist on a Spanish (ES) bank code. Most other payments I run via my TransferWise account, which now supports Euro direct debits too (but from a BE code) and is much cheaper.
