Looks like a ladder snake! 2 lines down the back? They're harmless.

Looks to me like a cheap belt from the market.

Rob, your naughty. Helen may be petrified.

As others have advised it is harmless. You can pick this one up and place it somewhere safe . They are good for getting rid of more unpleasant visitors.

You can research the different Spanish snakes on the web but to be honest in dull light at the dead of night it is very difficult to distinguish between a grass type snake and a poisoness viper. Identifying the sharpness of the pattern to determine this can be risky. Best advice is leave alone keep all windows and doors shut at night when they come out to feed.

Trust this info helps you,

Regards Al

He looks a lot like the one that came into our bedroom. If he answers to the name laddie that's him. He's a ladder snake. Very hissy and smells disgusting if he gets cross. He curled round a stick and I got him out the window. Then he promptly came in the back door. He move pretty fast on carpet. Less so on tiles.

they really struggle for survival because most 'local people' kill them habitually
