Moving to Urcal

I am moving to Urcal next month...cant wait..my partner Veronica will follow me over next year.

Well the very best of luck & if you manage to make contact with Jim & Ann in the local bar he/they are a fund of information. They live darts night. 

They purchased an ex- holiday home and so are really clued up on the difficulties that might arise. Hope your property has a fly free zone as last Summer was particularly bad.

We are the next village along, when we are there.

Thanks Phill   we expect to get the keys early June and be moved over by end of August, we have to wait to sell ours to get the furniture over as we have bought without existing furniture.

But we will be over mid June to paint it in and out, you don't often get the chance to do it normally as all the furniture is in the way, Quick trip to Ikea to get a bed and a table and chairs, and i think the closest diy shop looks like Lopez in Antas to get the paint etc

No, your closest shop is Tapia in Huercal Overa on the bottom road next to the Vets. Antonio and staff.just so friendly & most english speaking. Used them.for 15 years. There is also a Specialist Paint shop.if you stay on.that road but go towards Belzunces. Huge and garish on RHS. If you get to supermarket you have gone to far.

Wouldn't touch Lopez with a bargepole and Ikea way too far.

Thanks Bob we have a fly screen porch. I have heard the flies can be a problem but hopefully not a nightmare.

The house is currently a holiday home but  we will be living there permanently. 

Yes we will need a lot of help I'm sure, I can see me asking "where do I get ........ from" and "how do they do ........ here" quite often.

But Im sure a pint can sort a few things out :)

We have shopped local and at Ikea in Murcia...both fine..depends on your taste I suppose.

Jimbo theScot is an excellent chap and in fact has his house and yard in Urcal itself. However he might not be the cheapest and if you are in the south of England and it's not a full load then I would advise contacting Andy and Cheryl at

They are the nicest people imaginable and have charged neighbours less than other quotes and indeed reduced their quote when they find a client has overestimated meterage.

Can give you Andy's number if you wish.

If you go on the local Facebook Forums then you will find any number of Transport Companies vying for your business.

Unfortunately the one we used in 2003 turned out to be a Brit crook but then there were a legion of them here prior to the crash in 2008.
