Hi
Can anyone tell me if anyone at Huercal Overa Town Hall speaks English, need to register for Padron and not sure what docs I will need. Is it relatively easy? We have deeds,NIE, passports. Will that be enough.

Hi, there is at least one english speaking staffer at the town hall in H/O, you can find out what you need exactly just by Googling "what do I need to get my Padron",
Theres a comprehensive artice in this weeks Euro Weekly news too. Hope that helps.

Sorry me again. Having checked the article it states I will need to provide utility bill in my name. We have not yet had any bills as only been here 3 weeks. All bills are registered in hubby name only. We are wanting to register as I believe we cannot purchase a car without the padron

Hi, I think you'll find that you need youre NIE not padron for all major purchases such as tv's white goods cars etc.
Youre padron is supposed to be kep up to date every 3 months I believe but most people forget to renew till reminded so in some cases the padron wouldnt be valid and thereby of not much use.
It's for statistical evidence much like the UK census, the more people registered, the more H/O gets back in subsidies from central government and all the government agencies.

Some garages do request Padrón as well as NIE - especially if they are changing details with Tráfico for you.
Gomez Ford in Huércal-Overa tends to ask for Padrón as well - I speak from experience as that was where I got my car

Have a call with Mandy and Chris at Camconcepts in the town. They sorted ours.
If you have signed a contract with Galasa or/and Endesa then that should be good enough. They are looking for proof of where you live. The police local will also call round to check that you live at the address given.

Hi
Many thanks , we popped in to town hall this morning, we took part of deeds but they needed all 35 pages !
Really helpful and luckily there was a lady in the office who spoke English. Will pop back tomorrow with all deeds and should be good to go.
