Has anyone travelled to spain recently....just wondered how stringent the border people are
very Brits turned back at Alicante airport as the Border Police decided they didn't have the right reason to come. Even those who had been asked to collect their TIE cards which were proof of residency.

Unsure why if having applied for a TIE you would then be in the UK.

what sort of reply is that..........A unhelpful,
B. pointless
C .Dim..lots of reasons for needing to return to thew Uk temporarily as I'm sure everyone on this site knows.
D So why bother replying. No wonder expats have a bad reputation.

My reply is the thinking of the Spanish Border Police as explained to me by my local policia in my village.
Reason Brits are being refused entry.
Sorry if you thought my reply was unhelpful.
Hopefully you now understand my reason for the reply.

I have friends from Ireland who have just returned to Spain.
They drove here, i will try find out if they had any difficulties. I am a bit puzzled myself how they got in as they do not have Residencia?

I would be very interested to know if they were allowed entry (presumably at Santander) purely because of being EU citizens (Irish Nationals) as against being Spanish residents...surely Spanish border authorities cannot deny entry to EU citizens (and regardless of their status in Spain)...or am I being somewhat naive about this???

Hi Steve,
I've heard back from my friends, they travelled from Rosslare by Ferry to Bilbao, then drove down no problem. They live in Toreveica, they had PCR tests done, these were checked getting on the ferry and no where else.
They do not have Residencia they are Irish citizens.
I am a bit puzzled as I keep hearing from news reports that no one is travelling to Spain.
Surely they are not just preventing British people from coming over?

That's most interesting...so, unhindered travel from Rosslare to Bilbao, and onwards to Torrevieja...with just a pre-departure PCR test...I am also an Irish National (living in the UK), and wishing to travel to my apartment in Almeria...but I am hearing reports of only Spanish nationals/residents being allowed entry from the UK...makes me wonder if I should transit through Rosslare instead...that would entail two ferry crossings, but if it meant unhindered travel then it would be worth the effort!!! Does anyone have any experience of travelling on an Irish passport to Spain from the UK via Ireland???

I guess if you travel to Ireland first, then board the ferry you would be fine, although I'm imagining the cost would be substantial.
Best of luck anyways
