If you get quotes from an online service, typically it does not include the full insurance (you will be insured and covered for accidental damage, but usually there will be a high excess, often over 1000€). Sometimes the comparison site will just not show it, or try to sell you its own (Ryanair does that - if you get "full cover" via the site it is actually an independent policy, not from the car hire company).
When you pick up the car, almost invariably the agent will try to sell you their policy for full cover - even if you have it from (say) Ryanair when you booked. That price of cover will typically be pretty high (often more than heavily discounted per day rates for the car itself). If you have you own cover, resist that hard sell - but then remember to check, double check and quibble about every scratch on the car when you pick it up, as when you return it, they will quote every last scratch to get get you to pay up to the excess. If you do get caught in that trap, the insurance company will cover it - but make sure you tell them if you think it was excessive, as they will take it up with company.
You can get your own "excess cover" from most insurance companies before you go which will almost certainly be cheaper than the hire car company's offer. You may even already be covered if you have a premium credit card as one of its benefits (e.g. I have cover through Amex and it has more than paid for all the card fees just in money saved on car hire cover).

Thanks Jenn, I would rather support someone who has been recommended, rather than the bigger companies.
Thanks for your time!
Ooh thanks Tracey, but I wouldn’t go with Gold car. I will keep you in the loop, if I find anything 😊

Thanks for your time, was thinking of getting European insurance, to cover windscreen, undercarriage etc, and stick to my guns, whilst they try to hard sell me their fear insurance! I always take pics of car before and after.....much to my partners annoyance, but better safe than sorry.
Thanks again😊

I still highly recommend Centauro if you are arriving at Corvera (they are not at Almeria) and with their premium plan - ok I admit it's the most expensive of their 3 plans - nothing gets blocked off the card but you have full insurance cover. We've got another 2 cars with them over the next month and have always been very pleased.
