Hi need some advice please, my car is an old ford focus estate diesel, due to the lockdown i am not using it all, do i need to start it up and let it run a bit or leave it alone. Dont want a flat battery when i need to use it after lockdown is over. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Well that would be sensible. Also release the hand brake and move the car forward and back a little, this will prevent brakes, and hand brake sticking.

Hi,

Start it and leave it running until engine gets to operating temperature about once a week. Make sure heaters, lights etc are all off whilst you do this.

If car is kept on level ground leave the handbrake off and chock either the front or back wheels. For avoidance of doubt this just means putting something like a block of wheels under the tyres to stop them from turning. Alternatively just leave it in gear, but don't forget that you've done so when you go to start It!

All the best

What we do is disconnect the battery and then we find that the car ,once reconnected starts okay when we leave it for a period of time when we are in the UK .

Hope this is of help

Yes, we do this with our campervan. It starts every time. Just take the connections off the terminals. Good luck x x

Ford Focus can lose the memory in the ecu if disconnected for to long that Fords charge you to re programme. Not cheap by accounts
